I have been using Windows since 1999 and Linux since 2000.
About a year ago I became a Microsoft Authorized refurbisher as I do
volunteer work for an NPO...
and wanted to put a lot of old machines back into use.
To re-license a machine with a legal version of Win2k is only $5 so I think
that's pretty fair.
I try to steer as many people as I can into Linux...but for the most part
there is a preference for Windows...
so I don't fight it.
BTW: I did give XP-FLP a try (it's the legacy machine version of XP)
and found that it does in-fact work well on a lower end machine.
Recently I did an installation of PCLinuxOS on one of my main machines and
was pleased at how great it works.
Linux has certainly come a long way since my first trials with RH5.2 !!!!
