As you (and everyone else) should by now be aware, this deal has
subsequently been hijacked by Microsoft, much to the Mandriva CEO's
great disillusionment:

I think it's fairly safe to assume Intel had a hand in this deception,
since they have partnered with Microsoft to monopolise the "opportunity"
for exploiting the poor in the third world.
I'm not saying that it is right to always highlight the black cloud,
when there's a silver lining to be advocated, but neither Microsoft nor
Intel are the sort of companies that one should /ever/ give the benefit
of the doubt to, nor turn one's back on. Their involvement in /any/
initiative should treated with extreme suspicion, and I think my initial
pessimism has subsequently been fully justified by the eventual outcome.

I applaud your efforts. I'm afraid that my local church simply doesn't
use computers at all, although I did help my Catholic Priest (now Canon)
to install Ubuntu Christian Edition on his personal laptop.
