Have to say that I'm addicted to my TomTom. I used to think that maps
were good enough for anyone, but once you've used a TomTom for a while,
driving without one can be a little scary.
The live traffic and auto-rerouting capabilities are truly fantastic,
they really do work and they do keep you going.
I remain convinced by the day I got in to Heathrow from Schipol
(Amsterdam), got routed through South London until the Sevenoaks
junction before heading home, then headed north via the A20 and the
blackwall tunnel, and up the A5 to get to the British Grand Prix with
No1 son, having avoided about 40 miles of queues from Heathrow and then
a further 10 miles around the Dartford Bridge - the whole world was
stuck for *hours* on various parts of the M.25 - I had my TomTom and
missed every single bit of it, and even my trip up to Silverstone for
the Grand Prix was only about 20 minutes longer driving time than the
M.25 route would have been on a clear day.
Had I not had TomTom, we'd never have got to the Grand Prix, because I'd
never have got back from Heathrow in the first place, let alone up to
Silverstone later the same day.
