LiMo Foundation Exec Morgan Gillis on Mobile Linux, Android and What Lies Ahead

,----[ Quote ]
| "We're warmly and publicly welcoming the OHA. The reason we're doing that is
| because it is very different from LiMo. Google's background and focus within
| mobile are on the user experience and, in particular, on bringing the next
| generation of mobile Internet experience to consumers," said Morgan Gillis,
| executive director of the LiMo Foundation.

Last week, LiMo published a press release to welcome Google's Android, so
there's no fragmentation (Microsoft's and Symbian's beloved FUD). Also see the
articles below. Everybody is happy, except Microsoft and Symbian.

Palm: assimilate with Android or die

,----[ Quote ]
| Getting their apps and services on the largely crappy, disparate mobile
| platforms that exist today has proven to be a huge pain; rich mobile
| application standards are scarce in the wireless software world, and Google's
| business is in serving information anytime, anywhere, on any device. It's
| easy for Google to guarantee their services will work on just about any
| computer purchased in the last decade, but the same is totally untrue of
| cellphones -- so they set out to change that, and it seems as though they
| will do just that. So yeah, a mobile play it's really a no-branier.
