| The Free Software Foundation and the GNU Project oppose publication of
| draft-housley-tls-authz-extns as an experimental standard.
|

| Much of the communication on the Internet happens between computers according
| to standards that define common languages. If we are going to live in a free
| world using free software, our software must be allowed to speak these
| languages.

What kind of an insane world puts interoperability (standards) in the hands of
a compnay with interoperability tax (patents)? It was the same story with a
recent proposed IEEE wireless standard (a decent one) that everyone was scared
to implement because of patents.

Open Source Patents

| Nice, creative idea. But note a few things. First, the OIN patent pooling

| a patent infringement lawsuit is what induces third parties to enter into the
| OIN license (on the other hand, without the patent monopoly, there would be
| no reason for OIN to exist).
