Re: [News] Another Microsoft victim dumps Vista for Linux

After takin' a swig o' grog, DFS belched out this bit o' wisdom:

But, but, I thought Bill said "One world, one program".

> And free has nothing to do with it, you paid Windows developer you :)

Ugh. Don't remind me. I had a service that started properly under Win
2000. Then some of the XP users started using the code, and it didn't
work. Something in how we set things up made StartService() fail
immediately. Was painful, bacause the only way to get a handle on it
was to log each step to the Event Log..

Although I like Visual Studio debugging, XP on an older Pentium 4 laptop
is painful. Has only 256 Mb, but using 330 Mb. Thrashy!

And I should damn well GET PAID for putting up with this stuff!

Although, once I got Cygwin/X installed, that helped quite a bit.

Depends on what kind of liability you are talking about. Copyright
infringement, patent infringement, or failure-to-perform?

You're so old fashioned, man. Not to mention you've just nuked
Microsoft at the same time.

> Aw shucks! You're a great Windows advocate yourself.

Nah. I don't mind writing C code for it, but the rest of Windows and
its development world leaves me cold. If it runs only on Windows, I'd
prefer to forget about it.
