Trolltech seems to be excited enough to write about the KDE-based Linux MCE...
Linux Media Center Edition - Not just new wrapping!
,----[ Quote ]
| This spring Aaron J. Seigo said enthusiastically, "Good things are coming,
| and it's just so incredibly cool with the upcoming multimedia desktop built
| with KDE." When Aaron is around, it’s hard not to get excited! However, based
| on my experience, I thought it would be just "new wrapping". Afterall,
| Windows Media Centre has been around since 2005. As it is, everything works
| on Linux anyways -- video, DVD and TV. So what’s the problem? All it needed
| was was somebody to simply pull it all together on Linux, a no-brainer.
| Wouldn’t you think?

KDE 4: first hints of the kicker replacement
,----[ Quote ]
| I’m looking forward to see the new working system bar - and I’m especially
| looking forward to the possibilities of dragging&dropping of Plasmoids
| between the desktop and the system bar. Also I do really hope that the new
| base for the system bar is now flexible enough so that other developers can
| develop their own in the future!

| Kubuntu and KDE 3.5.

Linux media center distro adds flashy features
,----[ Quote ]
| LinuxMCE appears to comprise a set of add-ons -- such as the MythTV DVR
| (digital video recorder), for example -- that sit on top of Kubuntu, the
| version of Ubuntu that uses KDE (K desktop environment). It adds numerous
| fancy features, including the optional alpha-blended UI (user interface)
| shown in the screenshots below.

LinuxMCE 1.1 Released -- Now Runs KDE
,----[ Quote ]
| There's also word that LinuxMCE, since it works so well with the
| KDE desktop environment, that the guys at the KDE project are
| seriously considering integrating LinuxMCE into their upcoming
| 4.0 release. Now this is HUGE! If combined in the KDE 4.0 release,

| to Windows Vista Ultimate.
