Yes, Brian Jones commented to say that Microsoft can't be committed to "what
comes out of ECMA." It's a decoy. With Office 2009 beta, Microsoft has already
left OOXML behind and Office 2007 doesn't implement OOXML, either.

Microsoft is fooling many people and bribing many people (a soft form of
bribery is more common). It needs to extend (i.e. to break compatibility) in
order to squeeze money out of innocent 'side effects' (the users are not
customers, the OEMs are).
