5 Cool Firefox Alternatives for GNU/Linux (with Screenshots)
,----[ Quote ]
| I still use Firefox (well, Iceweasel) on Debian, but sometimes I just don’t
| have the time or the nerves to wait for this add-on-packed conglomerate to
| load. While there is a noticeable speed improvement with Firefox 3, you still
| need some time for it to load. So, when I’m in a hurry, I sometimes fire-up
| an alternative browser.

5 Known Office Suites for Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| A typical desktop computer user will almost always need an office suite. A
| typical Windows user has to empty their wallet just to pay for that
| over-priced Microsoft Office. A typical Linux user will just use the office
| suite that comes with their distro free of charge.
|
| There are actually 5 known free and open source office suites that work best
| in Linux. They are:
|
| GNOME Office
|
| [...]
|
| KOffice

There's no such choice in Windows. Microsoft routes users to its own horrible
tools using .doc and ActiveX.

Philosophy of Non-Competition
,----[ Quote ]
| People periodically ask me about competition in the open source
| community, especially competition between various languages.
|
| One thing Microsoft seems to have figured out is that developers
| want multiple languages to choose from and will always want
| multiple languages to choose from. Diversity is an advantage,
| not a disadvantage. Ruby, for example, benefits from Perl, PHP,
| and Python's success, just like they benefit from Ruby's success.
| Java would likely never have been released as open source if it
| weren't for the success of the other languages. Having multiple
| successful open source languages each used by multiple successful
| projects makes it that much easier for companies to consider open
| source alternatives. The more the merrier.

I like my bazaar!
,----[ Quote ]
| A bazaar means choice, shopping malls, not the bleak shops of the Soviet era
| and - most of all - no high priests and Politbureau's. Being someone who has
| seen with his own eyes what dictatorship and elitarism can do to people in
| particular and society in general, I like my bazaar.
