White Asus Eee briefly spotted today at Amazon.com

,----[ Quote ]
| The "8G' units in "Pearl White" colour which were briefly available this
| morning were listed as having the same seven inch display, a 800 Mhz CPU from
| Chipzilla, b/g Wi-Fi, and the usual Linux preloaded OS as its lower-spec
| siblings, but with one gigabyte of RAM and an eight gigabyte flash drive. A
| week ago the Amazon.com listing showed a "3 to 6 weeks" shipment delay time.

2007's most important IT lesson is spelled with an Eee

| The Eee shows too just how out of date the 'is Linux ready for the desktop?'
|                        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
| argument is. Yes it is. Anyone can pick up an Eee with its standard Linux
| ^^^^^^^^^^^
| distro - or with a number of freely available alternatives - and just use it.
| That alone revitalises the 'is this paid-for operating system value for
| money?' question.

Linux Assimilation

,----[ Quote ]
| Have you ever thought about all of the places Linux has been popping up
| lately? It's not just in your computer anymore. Linux is powering mobile
| phones, handheld gaming consoles, GPS systems, e-book readers, and more.
| Personally, I'm waiting for the Linux refrigerator, the Ubuntu frigidaire,
| which will be fast, cold, and powerful enough to churn out ice cubes like
| there's no tomorrow.

The little laptop that could -- do just about anything the big boys can

| Many people are, apparently. The Taiwan company reportedly exceeded
| expectations in the past quarter, shipping 350,000 Eees out the door.
|
| When more people get them, they'll lose that cool factor. I don't care a whit
| about that. Just don't take away my Eee.
