| Students naturally have more affinity with Firefox because it is innovative,
| open and cool. They tend to want to experiment with new ideas and new
| products. Firefox uses a lot less memory so it is quite popular with gamers.
| Apart from students, people in the IT industry are another big group of
| natural users of Firefox. Interestingly, a market survey said that three
| quarters of our users in China are male, so we are aiming to make Firefox
| more attractive to Chinese women.

Outgoing Fedora Project Leader Max Spevack talks to Linux.com (video)

,----[ Quote ]
| We caught up with Max at FUDCon. He told us how much he has enjoyed being the
| Fedora project leader for the past two years, and why this is a good time to
| hand the reins to someone else. Max will still be working for Red Hat, and
| even though he will no longer be head Fedora honcho, he'll still be involved
| with the project. But that's enough from us. Let Max tell it in his own
| words.

| The Mozilla project's launch by Netscape in 1998 was a defining moment for

Microsoft browser rival Mozilla eyes China

| California-based Mozilla already has a presence in China via a

| Friday.

|
| Mozilla operates through tie-ups with Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc.,
| targeting individual Web surfers, while open-source heavyweight
| and main Linux distributor Red Hat Inc. and, recently,

Will cash solve China's 'community' problem?

,----[ Quote ]
| The government, I learnt, as well as universities are also
| forming communities, which are sponsored and intended to attract
| talented developers, or more, to point the contributors to the
| cause of the sponsor. The government mainly funds the top open
| source companies in China--those being Red Flag, Turbo Linux and
| Sun Wah, and these groups in turn need to devote a portion of
| their funding to the government initiative to promote skills in
| this area. It makes sense because how can the government grow
| its infrastructure if there is no skilled labor to develop and
| support it?
