Unfortunately, this is a much a function of the media companies as it is
one of Microsoft.  They will happily sell the same back catalogue as
many times as they can to the same person in every format going.  This
is why DRM looked so attractive to them;  they would be able to switch
off their customers' catalogue every time they needed a cash infusion.
Such a model is, of course, bound to fail, as it will inevitably be
abused, but if the abusers are the media companies, why would they worry
about that?
