I'm surprised you, a well known WinTroll, actually posted it.

Roy did post the initial announcement that Lancor had filed a lawsuit
against the OLPC organization. From the very beginning, there has
been a great deal of speculation that Microsoft may have had a hand in
the lawsuit, but there doesn't seem to be much evidence of this. On
the other hand, the theory that Intel may have had a hand in this, or
may have been dropped to help draw out the lawsuit as long as possible
(since Intel has the resources to aggressively defend itself), may
have some merit, but I suspect that this has more to do with the same
crowd that came up with the "Nigerian Oil Revenue Check" scam on the
internet. This is just a new flavor that takes advantage of the weak
archives in the Nigerian patent office.

Rather than being a demonstration of the inadaquacy of OLPC, it points
to the dangers of granting patents to "First-to-file" applicants, in
ANY country.

The result, of course, has been that none of the OLPCs have been
distributed to Nigeria, and the OLPC project has gone to other
countries instead. Note that $20 million for 80,000 OLPCs would be
over $250 per OLPC device. The plaintiff is claiming that they are
intitled to $200-250 of a PC which is supposed to cost only $100
each. This is clearly a scam, and is mostly focused on creating lots
of publicity against the OLPC, not the enforcement of a legitimate
patent.
