Impossible thing #1: Developing efficient, well engineered free software like
Debian GNU/Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| So, not only does free software represent a vast amount of effort, but it is
| apparently very well-engineered and efficient effort leading to an even
| higher use value than equivalent proprietary products! Not only can free
| software manage large, complex projects, but it appears to do it better than
| proprietary methods.

On the face of it, Windows 7 (to be released in 2010 or later given Microsoft's
procrastination) is pretty much like Vista if the screenshots (
http://www.thinknext.net/archives/2124 ) are anything to go by. Looks like
Vista with a few KDE4-like elements. It's like a Service Pack, without even
the lipstick. It seems to confirm the fact that Microsoft hit a wall with XP,
which is still the best version of Windows (and will continue to be so).
