Microsoft warns businesses of impending autoupdate to IE7
,----[ Quote ]
| Companies that stuck with IE6 must take action, Microsoft said, or IE7 may be
| automatically downloaded and installed to their workers' PCs. Specifically,
| administrators who have set WSUS to automatically approve Update Rollups will
| need to disable the auto-approval rule before Feb. 12 to prevent IE7 from
| infiltrating their infrastructure. After that date, they must synchronize the
| update package with their WSUS server and then switch the autoapproval rule
| back on.

Microsoft to Push Silverlight via Redesigned Website
,----[ Quote ]
| Microsoft isn't new to the whole "virtual" monopoly business (where a single
| company holds the entire market thanks to "superior technology" and "better
| business sense") - it's just not too often that they're on the wrong side of
| this particular proverbial fence.
|
| When Silverlight was first announced and PopFly, Microsoft's social network
| built to demonstrate and hopefully kickoff Silverlight, were simultaneously
| launched; we were quick to appreciate the technical aspects of .NET and WPF
| taken online, but were careful to make it clear that we didn't think it stood
| much of a chance.
|
| But things might be on the verge of a big change. Large portions Microsoft's
| website are in the middle of a redesign that will feature a fully
| Silverlight-powered interface - doing away with HTML and everything else.

IE 7 Cautionary Tale
,----[ Quote ]
| After updating to the new browser, none of the computers
| could access QuickBooks, the CRM system or e-mail. The IT
| manager had to remotely administrator each machine, from
| the U.S. He turned back to a restore point a day earlier,
| undoing the chaos caused by IE 7.
