Verily I say unto thee, that Roy Schestowitz spake thusly:
> Windows-free/Intel-free/NVidia-free.
If I was in the market for new hardware, that's exactly what I'd be
aiming for too, although I understand that the two monopolies (Microsoft
and Intel) and nVidia's previous domination (hehe), make that a very
difficult choice - at least for prebuilt systems.
Did you consider the Windows refund route?
Of course the problem with that is I suspect the OEM still counts it as
a "sale" of Windows, from the POV of metrics. Not only do I not want the
Vole to get any of my money, I want to ensure I don't contribute to
their sales figures either - false or otherwise.
Personally I think you should have just bought the parts and assembled
it yourself (Asus SplashTop-enabled mobo?).
As for Intel ... after what they did to the OLPC project, and Barrett's
disgusting comments (remember the video), I'll never buy another Intel
product again. There are many other reasons, of course. Just ask Neelie.
When it comes to nVidia, I've never really forgiven them for this:

Here's that OLPC video (worth keeping alive, since it shows what a bunch
of mindless thugs Intel really are):

I don't think I need a video to explain why I avoid Microsoft ;)
