I would applaud them for doing so. I also applaud any proprietary 
company for having the balls to develop and take to market their 
particular product. What I will not and cannot agree with is any entity 
saying "this is my model, this is my product and nobody else is allowed 
to compete with me". Its called choice. Its called competition and it is 
a good thing. Patent rights which were mentioned by yourself in the OP 
are something completely different. And completely bogus to boot.
