Who would ever stop them? The regulators might be equally corrupt. Monkey see,
monkey do. How can they be hypocritical?

That's where outside intervention comes into play. Don't you find it
fascinating that the US does merely nothing to restrain Microsoft, a
US-based 'company', while courts from China and Europe have to pull Microsoft
or enter the US merely to serve justice?

Lessig (earlier today):

Larry Lessig: Time to reject corporate influence on Washington

,----[ Quote ]
| Iconic Internet law professor Larry Lessig may have cast off plans for a
| congressional bid of his own, but he still wants to turn the political
| process as we know it upside down.

You know, in a way, Lessig inspires many people (including myself) to consider
quitting the comparably small problems and starting to study the behaviour of
the most corrupt people who enable this to happen. It doesn't only have a
negative effect in technology, but also on the environment, economics, even
people's life and death (also overseas... just ask Iraqi civilians or families
of dead troops who are led to believe (by Faux et al) that there is 'war'...
and WoMD... oh! and oil).
