The way that will bring more users to GNU/Linux

,----[ Quote ]
| How the documentation is important to the GNU/Linux world? Why we need a
| documentation?
|
| Basically this is crucial point for any project. The documentation is
| something like a gate to the project, new users go through that gate to enter
| in the project and if that gate is broken the user could go in the wrong
| direction.

The Human Genome Goes Wiki

,----[ Quote ]
| A group of scientists aims to post thousands of entries on Wikipedia that
| describe the workings of individual human genes. The team realizes the
| potential for mischief -- anyone can change a Wikipedia article, regardless
| of their expertise or intent -- but were convinced by the popularity of the
| online encyclopedia and its volunteer overseers' general quickness.

| There are now 1,276 identified problems with the technical documentation,
| compared to fewer than 900 at the beginning of the year, said Stephen Houck,
| a lawyer representing the so-called California group of states that are
| plaintiffs in the case.

,----[ Quote ]

Gaps found in Microsoft Exchange API documentation

,----[ Quote ]
| Speaking to ZDNet.co.uk at the CeBIT conference, Joseph said Microsoft's
| start is not promising: "This could definitely make life easier for
| developers, but we have spotted over 200 undocumented exceptions, including
| one that allows you to create recurring calendar appointments in Exchange. It
| was in the documentation for Exchange 2000, but they forgot to document it
| for Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007."

ATI R200 Documentation Coming Too

,----[ Quote ]
| John doesn't believe these R200 documents will be of any use to the
| xf86-video-ati developers for improving the Radeon 8500 to 9250 open-source
| support, but that it will help assist new open-source developers in beginning
| to understand graphics programming. The Radeon 8500 programming guide
| consists of what has been described as a "pretty good introductory guide for
| new driver dev[eloper]s" and "if it allows a few more people to become active
| developers that can make a big difference."

AMD Releases R300 3D Register Guide

,----[ Quote ]
| Today's R300 documentation release is just 99 pages long but covers registers
| for color buffer, fog, geometry assembly, graphics backend, rasterization,
| clipping, setup unit, texture, fragment shaders, vertex, and Z-Buffer. This
| is now the fourth open-source documentation dump (and sixth document) from
| AMD, since announcing their open-source strategy last year. Aside from the
| R500 3D guide, the previous documents had covered the basic register
| information for the R500/600 mobile and desktop chipsets (RV630/M56 and
| M76/RS690).

AMD Releases 3D Programming Documentation

,----[ Quote ]
| The 3D programming documentation today is 300 pages and is made up of a
| programming guide and register specifications. Among the areas covered in
| this 3D guide are the command processor, vertex shaders, fragment shaders,
| Hyper-Z, and the various 3D registers. Editor's Note: In the hours leading up
| to this public documentation drop, we've been told that tcore will now not be
| available for immediate download with this 3D programming documentation. We
| would expect tcore to be available very soon, if it's not already available
| for you from the download server.
