McCain is provably *not* in Microsoft's pocket, as their
LiveStream is playable in Linux, unlike the Democrats'.
Make that "was"...the Convention's over. They used
something called UStream.tv. It might have been a lucky
accident ("Make it so, UStreamTV; don't bother us with
fiddly details like what OS can view it"), but it's clear
someone was at least paying some attention.
Interestingly, UStream.tv is livestreaming something called
"Big Tent (de)Construction Cam", which is apparently for
Democratic National ... something.
http://gallery1.demconvention.com/ is still up (strange) and
still has that error message (not that it would stream
anything even were it perfectly functional at this point).
Apparently, however, NPR had a feed of its own. Wish I'd
known that a week ago...

Not if someone's paying attention. The odd thing is:
Googling "Democratic Linux streaming snafu" returned
little of interest.
Googling "Microsoft McCain" produced expected results,
namely things for Microsoft, things for McCain. It's
not returning anything together, unless one counts
things such as MSNBC news stories and Windows Live
Gallery pictures of the candidate.
Googling "Microsoft McCain influence" coughed up
a little more interesting material (some of it
mildly disturbing), including this tidbit:
http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2008/05/21/obamas-apple-mccains-microsoft-the-politics-of-tech/
which is obviously an analogy, though it does detail
that Obama has been courting Apple Computer, or at
least borrowing some of their material; it also mentions
McCain naming Steve Ballmer as being on McCain's list for
individuals for McCain's cabinet.
There are no hints of money here, though.

Windows. Multi-platform(1), multi-tasking(1), multi-user(1).
(1) if one defines "multi" as "exactly one".
