I disagree with you. It has forced Microsoft to reduce the cost of one of its
very few profitable products. OOo is a product Microsoft tries to keep low in
terms of adoption by permitting people to make illegal copies of Office or
receive huge discounts.

The same goes for GNU/Linux by the way. Microsoft can't charge for Windows in
most of the world because there *is* choice. Free software is a huge pain to
Microsoft finances (it's probably deep in fraud BTW). This helps the consumer.
