Easystroke Makes Mouse Gestures Easy in Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| Once you've got that mastered, you've pretty much got control of your mouse
| gestures. In the "Preferences" tab, you can change the gesture button (to
| another button, if you've got a multi-button mouse, or keyboard key if you're
| trying a trackpad), and change or eliminate the way Easystroke shows your
| mouse strokes and its reactions under the "Appearance" heading.
|
| If you're running Compiz Fusion on your desktop (and most modern
| distributions have it pre-installed), you can use Easystroke for a lot of
| cool desktop manipulation. Head into your advanced Compiz settings (here's a
| quick guide to setting them up in Ubuntu) and enable effects like "ADD
| Helper," "Expo," and any of the "Desktop" effects (like Cube, Wall, or the
| like). I set up "Widget Layer" to turn on and off when I mouse toward the
| upper right of my screen, because I found myself accidentally triggering the
| layer too often when I just assigned it to the upper-right corner with
| Brightside or Compiz's settings.

KDE gestures you to easier computer control.
,----[ Quote ]
| That's how easy it is to set up KDE to control your computer without ever
| having to touch the keyboard. For the command line commando's it is not an
| ideal system but those of us Borg that have the optical sensor embedded into
| the palm of our hand it can be a real time saver.

| Mouse Gesturing
|
| Mousegestures allows you assign a mouse gesture to any plugin action that you
| want. As long as the action can be called by compiz (I.e., rotate_left_key,
| plugin: rotate would be a good one), you can call it by doing a series of
| mousegestures while holding down the button. You can have up to 32 different
| mouse movements per-gesture which can make up to just less than 8 billion
| gestures! It’s a little tricky to configure, but here is the run-down of how
| it works.

| Use Terminator: Terminator is a nice way to free your valuable screen space

Why Open Source contributes to productivity
,----[ Quote ]
| Open source software has become quite popular lately and I think it’s awesome
| that free software like Amarok, Open Office, GIMP and so on, are becoming so
| good that they not only rival their paid counterparts, but surpass them in
| many ways.

Kubuntu days...productive days
,----[ Quote ]
| So, what is the point? It is that, for non technical users, as I am, Kubuntu
| have reached a point where I'm able to do with linux everything I used to be
| able to do in windows, install it, make partitions, configure a network,
| install apps, share printers and directories, configure wifi devices, create
| users, etc. very easily. In fact, I can do more things now that I could in
| windows.
|
| We can improve a lot though, but it has been a confirmation of what I already
| knew (we all know). With linux I'm more productive, even in tedious actions
| like the ones I've done these days.

Switching from KDE to WinXP #2
,----[ Quote ]
| Conclusion
|
| I have looked at several features that KDE?s Konqueror has but that
| WinXP's Explorer doesn't have. I have also mentioned a few of the
| things I don't like about Explorer and often why I think Konqueror's way of
| doing it is better. You may have noticed that there is nothing positive
| about Explorer. That is true and it is not for lack of trying. The fact is,
| for me, the way I work, there is just nothing special about Explorer. I
| didn't find any feature that struck me as being especially cool or useful
| that Konqueror didn?t also have.
|
| Switching from KDE to WindowsXP at work has seriously impaired my
| productivity.
