If someone like HP (and perhaps IBM, Google and Sun as well) suddenly
brought out their own fully supported Linux distros and switched all their
applications to run on Linux, and fund porting of applications by other
vendors to Linux, then all of sudden the carpet under micoshaft will have
been taken away. Micoshaft would trip up and be force to sell off a large
number of divisions, patents and the like to pay the bills. And all these
big companies could mop up all substantial micoshaft assets at knock down
prices in a space of less than 2 years. Isn't that a thought worth
mentioning in a few circles?!
