Another excellent commentary Rex, and very pertinent in the following case.
I had a experienced (retired) professional programmer ask me just yesterday
which Linux disto he should use.
He began by saying that what was coming would be "music to my ears", as he
knows full well what a Linux Zealot I am, then went on to explain how his
old pc had died and he had upgraded to a brand new machine without a OS.
He explained that his old machine ran Windows 2000 but the new drivers for
his new PC kept complaining that they wouldn't run under Windows 2000 and
that he needed to upgrade to XP.
This old Windows diehard didn't want XP or Vista, only Win2k, and as he
could no longer use it, he is seriously considering Linux.

If we wish to reduce our ignorance, there are people we will
