Roy, don't take this the wrong way because in general I enjoy
your postings however I am compelled to pose the question "have
you ever worked at the upper management level in industry, any
industry" ?
The reason I ask is because I have and I can assure you that this
type of communication goes on all the time. Do you not believe
that Pfizer is concerned about what Astrazeneca is up to? Do you
not believe that research reports and so forth are fudged in
order to keep the stock price up (ie:we almost have the cure for
AIDS etc). Do you not think that Ford is trying like the dickens
to learn how Toyota measures market share and reaction to their
cars?
Of course they are and much of it is done in a covert fashion.
That of course does not excuse any of the companies or people
involved however when you take these ancient memos and leaked
documentation out of context and warp them to match your beliefs
you do your readers, including me, a dis-service.

In short, if you don't believe Dunkin Donuts wouldn't kill to
have the marketing data of Krispy Kreme, you are naive.
This is the way business works.
Is it honorable?
No, it's not but it's a way of life for some, most in fact.
I've looked at your site and you seem to have an impressive list
of credentials. I can assure you that should you decide to work
for say Merck or Colgate or similar you will be forced to sign
some very strong documents dictating your life with, and yes even
after you leave said company.
One thing I will say is that honorable companies will fire your
ass in a minute should you attempt to offer information about a
competitor that was obtained illegally, say from a friend over a
few beers. You will be a fall guy so my advice is don't even try.

This stuff happens way up the food chain and that's the risks
those 'people' take for being paid the big bucks.

In conclusion it's all nice on paper that we share and share
alike and having given this a lot of thought, I would like to see
it end up this way. In reality however, the earth does not
function like this and I doubt I will see a change in my
lifetime.
Why?Human nature takes over.
