The Fedora Engineering Manager

,----[ Quote ]
| Though sometimes described as the bleeding-edge testing ground to Red Hat
| Enterprise Linux (or RHEL for short), Fedora is one of the most popular
| Linux-distributions around, along with Ubuntu, OpenSUSE and Mandriva.

Announcing the Moksha Project and Fedora Community Project!

,----[ Quote ]
| We are pleased to announce the Moksha Project and Fedora Community Project.
| For a while now, Luke Macken, Máirín Duffy, myself and others have been
| working on consolidating the the Fedora Infrastructure bits under one unified
| user interface. We have decided to split the efforts into two projects.
|
| * Moksha - a generic platform for creating live collaborative web
| applications
| * Fedora Community - a website portal built on top of the Moksha platform

Fedora 10 with KDE 4.2 RC

,----[ Quote ]
| Alright, so we here at InaTux had the time this week to play around with the
| newest KDE Desktop Environment (version 4.2 *release candidate*) we have to
| say-- and we might get some criticism for this but-- we think that lately the
| KDE team version by version have been taking large steps in the wrong
| direction. They have been doing a good job at making a Desktop Environment
| that feels almost invisible, but the general design of the Environment itself
| seems a little too much like a Vista (i.e. Widgets) and Mac (i.e. the theme)
| clone and this isn't what GNU/Linux was originally designed to be, a clone.

Review: Fedora 10

,----[ Quote ]
| Ignoring the proprietary graphic drivers issue (which, if you're a Fedora
| veteran you won't have any issue with anyway) Fedora comes across as a very
| solid, stable and clean distribution. Their repositories are large and
| there's a strong user community to ensure that bugs are squashed and the
| noobs get the support or flames they deserve. If you're wondering what your
| next distribution might be, have Fedora 10 on your short-list of ones to try
| out.

| The full GPG-signed message from our election coordinator, Nigel
| Jones, is attached. Thank you to the community for their suggestions,
| Josh Boyer and the Board for their work on additional diligence
| searches, and Nigel Jones for setting up the voting.

Fedora 10 Impressions

,----[ Quote ]
| I decided to switch my desktop back to Linux now that I know I can play
| Counter-Strike in VirtualBox thanks to the OpenGL 3D acceleration availible
| in VirtualBox 2.1.0. I *was* going to go back to the ‘ol reliable Ubuntu, but
| I decided since I have Nvidia graphics now, that I would try out Fedora 10
| since the drivers are availible in RPMFusion’s repo.

|
| Fedora has always been known to have great artwork, and Fedora 10 is no
| exception. The default look and feel is very sharp and professional. Fonts
| rendering is also very nice - seems better than the defaults in Ubuntu. I
| tend to use defaults for themes and such, so while the theme isn’t hugely
| important, having a nice theme as default is a niceity for me. I grow tired
| of the “brown” in Ubuntu (it’s depressing :-) )

Red Hat Fedora Claims It's the Leader in Linux

,----[ Quote ]
| Red Hat's Fedora community Linux distribution has now tallied its user base,
| and it's a number that on the surface would make it the largest installed
| base of any Linux distribution, with at least 9.5 million users and possibly
| as many as 10.5 million.
