Certainly RMS lacks a certain level of skill in recognizing and dealing
with accepted social mores, and for the most part that's perefectly
accepatble. (for those I need to explain that statement to, I'm saying
that RMS, by his own admission, suffers from a high level form of autism
and autism is known for it's inability to recognize even the most casual
social customs in many cases).
The problem is not so much what he's done, but the fact that he continues
to do it, even after being educated on how his actions are offensive.
What's worse, he defends his actions, despite them being clearly
indefensible.
In this way, Roy and RMS are very much in common. Despite many people
criticizing things he does wrong, he attempts to justify them and continue
doing them.
In both cases, once they have something in their mind, nothing is going to
stop them or persuade them differently. This is a great trait when doing
something good, but is a very bad trait when it's something less noble.
