That's not exactly a revelation. The law makers and "IP" enforcers have
/always/ known these granted privileges were monopolies, but you assume
they perceive this to have some negative connotations, which in general
they don't, like the word "exploitation" lacks any negative connotation
to businesses. They're predators, so they think like predators.
