Do You Do the Drupal?

,----[ Quote ]
| The Drupal content management system is one of the most popular engines for
| dynamic websites — indeed, it powers the site you're visiting right now. All
| this powering doesn't happen by itself, though, and the developer community
| that does the dirty work behind the scenes is in need of a bit of Linux
| labor.

Miro Internet TV 2.5 Preview

,----[ Quote ]
| Internet TV is one of the most developing field in the tech market.
| The origin of this field can was with the introduction of streaming video.
| The quality of the video depended on your connection speed. With the
| advancement of broadband Internet, the quality of the video and ability to
| access it online increased. The next revolution in this field was YouTube,
| which gave the idea of social interaction with video. But the problem with
| YouTube was that movies can only be viewed in a little pop-up windows. After
| this the idea of high definition video which utilizes fast broadband speeds
| for streaming the content over the Internet emerged.

Using Open Source to Protect Email

,----[ Quote ]
| Even if you're not sending industrial secrets out in your everyday e-mail,
| there might be plenty of things you'd rather not have winging around in the
| clear. One way to make sure your e-mail is free from eavesdroppers is through
| the use of public key encryption (PKE). PKE isn't just the preserve of large
| organizations. There are open source encryption solutions that enable smaller
| companies and individuals to use the technology at no cost-most commonly to
| encrypt and digitally sign e-mail messages.

,----[ Quote ]
| Those behind the open source Internet video player Miro have launched a new
| adoption system! No, you won't be adopting babies or kittens, or even polar
| bears in Antarctica—instead, users can "adopt" a line of source code from
| Miro for $4 in order to help support the continued development of the
| software.

Mini Review: Miro 2.0

 ,----[ Quote ]
| I like Miro quite a bit. It does a decent job of pulling together the
| functionality of a lot of separate application and combining them into a
| media center with a clean UI.
|
| A few additions, perhaps collected in an "Advanced" tab under Options would
| allow the user to control database updating, add/edit/delete search engine
| sites, select an external player application, control browser privacy, etc.

| We’ve just released a major update to Miro, version 1.2.
`----

http://www.getmiro.com/blog/2008/03/announcing-miro-12-a-major-update/

There are two major improvements in this update.

,----[ Quote ]
| First, we have dramatically improved performance for torrent downloading and
| we offer more settings and control (thanks to libtorrent). With this update,
| Miro is truly a powerhouse for torrent feeds, if I do say so myself. Torrents
| are still a difficult and mysterious technology for many users, despite the
| huge bandwidth savings they provide to publishers. We aim to make your
| torrent experience seamless at worst and invisible at best.

|
| With this launch, we are ready to build a movement for truly open video.
| We’re on a mission, we have a world-class product, we have an amazing
| community, and more and more open channels are being published every day.
| It’s the right time.

Miro (Democracy Player) for Linux Reviewed

,----[ Quote ]
| At the end of the day, Miro has been one of my favorite methods of
| downloading, maintaining and enjoying user created content. It's been a
| source of joy and discovery for me personally, and I only wish to see them
| gain a better focus on their future direction. Remember, non-profits can
| indeed, generate a profit. It's just a matter of reinvesting those funds into
| the project to better see through the mission of the group as a whole.
