Product Spotlight: System 76 Meerkat NetTop PC

,----[ Quote ]
| Desktop systems are following the trend set by netbooks by getting smaller
| and smaller. And it makes perfect sense. Not only do you save space, but in
| most cases you save on energy costs. System 76, a company producing
| Linux-based hardware, is offering up an outstanding smaller form-factor PC -
| the Meerkat NetTop PC.

ZaReason Ion Breeze 3770

,----[ Quote ]
| While this is the first NVIDIA ION nettop that we have tested under Linux
| (along with being the first ZaReason system we have reviewed), we were left
| being quite pleased with the Ion Breeze 3770. When using the proprietary
| Linux driver from NVIDIA, the GeForce 9400M GPU works great with an Intel
| Atom processor and delivers excellent video playback capabilities and is able
| to even run some games. Aside from faster graphics, when factoring out the
| other hardware differences with today's tests, the NVIDIA MCP79 performs
| about the same as the Intel 945 with ICH7 Southbridge.

System76 Serval Professional Notebook

,----[ Quote ]
| Finding a laptop that can run Linux is no longer much of a challenge. As we
| have shared in numerous netbook and notebook reviews, a majority off the
| shelf PCs shipping with Windows can easily be replaced with Linux and chances
| are most -- if not all -- of the components will "just work" on this
| open-source operating system, while ill-supported parts can usually be
| configured to work in just a few steps. For those looking to save time or
| avoid a potential headache, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and other major vendors
| have been offering Linux notebooks for some time now. One of the smaller
| vendors though that has been offering Ubuntu Linux notebooks (along with
| desktops and servers) is System76 Inc. This Colorado-based company not only
| ensures their hardware is 100% compatible with Ubuntu Linux, but they also
| preload some popular software packages that are not installed by default on
| Ubuntu. In this review we are looking at the System76 Serval Professional
| notebook.
|
| [...]
|
| If you don't mind paying more for a notebook that ships with Ubuntu and is
| guaranteed to run nicely with Linux -- along with supporting a vendor that is
| centered around the Linux ecosystem -- the System76 Serval Professional is a
| notebook worth considering for your next purchase.

ZaReason Readies Ubuntu 9.04 PCs, Servers

,----[ Quote ]
| On the server front, ZaReason launched its first rack-mount Ubuntu servers in
| March, and Malmrose says ZaReason will be growing that product line
| throughout 2009. Also, customers are using ZaReason’s UntangleBox as a
| server, notes Malmrose.

ZaReason: An Amazing Attack of Linux Cluefulness

,----[ Quote ]
| Genuine cluefulness in any business is a rare pleasure, and that is why I
| like ZaReason so much. ZaReason sells Linux boxes: desktop, server, netbook,
| and pretty much whatever you want, just ask. I first "met" Cathy Malmrose,
| the CEO of ZaReason, on the Linuxchix mailing lists, but her business didn't
| really grab my attention until I heard about their Ubuntu keyboard.

System76 Launches Biometric Ubuntu Linux Laptop

,----[ Quote ]
| As big PC companies like Hewlett-Packard finally push into desktop Linux,
| WorksWithU will give equal time to the industry pioneers that evangelized
| desktop Linux before it went mainstream. A case in point: System76 continued
| its long-term Linux commitment today by launching the Gazelle Ultra
| (pictured) — an Ubuntu laptop with some pretty slick hardware specs and a
| biometric fingerprint reader for security.

ZaReason's MegaLap is a desktop replacement with an Ubuntu twist

,----[ Quote ]
| MegaLap, a notebook computer from ZaReason, a company that builds and sells
| computer systems that run Ubuntu, is bound to give its owner bragging rights
| at any LAN party, especially with how loud the system can get. It has the
| hallmarks of on-the-go computing, while performing comparably to a desktop
| gaming system.

| latest Ubuntu servers?
|
| Richell: We are already providing servers to small businesses, schools,
