Re: GNU/Linux and Free Software coverage in print magazines

Verily I say unto thee, that Chris Ahlstrom spake thusly:
> After takin' a swig o' grog, Roy Schestowitz belched out this bit o'
> wisdom:

>> Name one feature in Vista 7 that's a selling point.

That observation may be less flippant than you realise.

Microsoft have established brand recognition, which for most people is a
positive one, to the extent that they're inclined to remain blindly
loyal to that brand, despite Microsoft's many failings.

When people like Linus and de Icaza chastise people like Roy and I for
harbouring a grudge against Microsoft, having a black and white
mentality, and engaging in a hate campaign against Microsoft and its
supporters, what they fail to realise is that our behaviour is not some
arbitrary and irrational reaction, it's a deliberate, reasoned and fully
justified attempt to redress an imbalance, by supplanting some of
Microsoft's indoctrination with an exposure of the ugly truth, to bring
a more balanced opinion of Microsoft to the masses.

That exposure may be relentlessly extreme, and even sensationalist and
exaggerated at times, but extreme propaganda requires extreme counter
-propaganda. If, by our efforts, we can induce even a modicum of
cynicism against Microsoft, we will have succeeded, because once the
indoctrinated begin to doubt the veracity of their doctrines, they'll
have taken the first step towards autonomous thinking, and can finally
be reasoned with. Until then, they'll remain sheeple to be harvested by
Microsoft, and the minority who understand the truth will remain a
minority, battling for equality in the software industry, and justice
against the software monopolist that inhibits that equality.
