Jolicloud Review on the HP Mini 1000

,----[ Quote ]
| I tried several operating system on the HP Mini 1000 netbook during the past
| months, inlcuding Karmic Koala Alpha releases of Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR)
| and Kubuntu netbook edition, as well as Moblin v2.0.
| I was pretty excited after watching the Moblin video tour and also very
| impressed of the great looking Kubuntu UI. Still, I am most satisfied with
| UNR from a usability and hardware support perspective and certainly due to
| being used to work with Ubuntu.
| But, there is another OS which I want to test drive before deciding what
| system to run in the future: Jolicloud. Like the other systems mentioned
| above Jolicloud is optimized for netbooks. The Jolicloud developers call it
| an Internet operating system as there is a strong focus on Web/cloud based
| applications.

Hands-on with an alpha of the Jolicloud netbook distro

| Jolicloud is a Linux-based netbook OS that is built on top of Canonical's

Checking out the Jolicloud Netbook OS

,----[ Quote ]
| That may, actually, be exactly what is needed to bring the concepts of Ubuntu
| Netbook Remix to the masses. Itâs too early to tell, but Jolicloud looks like
| it has a chance of being one of the first Linux-based netbook distros to take
| off, if they can get deals with hardware manufacturers.

Hands-On Review Of Jolicloud, The iPhonesque OS For Netbooks

,----[ Quote ]
| Founder and former CEO of Netvibes Tariq Krim is moving forward with his
| ambitious Jolicloud project, looking to build a better operating system for
| web workers with netbooks (or smartbooks or cloud computers, whichever term
| you prefer). A couple of days ago, we got a couple of exclusive screenshots
| from the team, and just a day after the startup started sending out a handful
| of invite codes for early adopters who wanted to get a peak at the alpha
| developer release. I also got hold of one and have been using Jolicloud on my
| Acer Aspire ONE for about four days now. These are my initial findings.

More evidence of Microsoft "tying up" the Asus EeePC

,----[ Quote ]
| Then, one of the makers of Netbooks will release a fantastic product using
| the paid Ubuntu/Netbook Remix, which will make us all forget about the EeePC
| â or, maybe weâll remember it as one of the makers which used GNU/Linux in
| order to launch a product, and then gave in to Microsoftâs pressure.
|
| The real question is: will the next maker manage to resist Microsoftâs
| pressure? Or will everybody end up closely tied up with Microsoft?
