How Microsoft Got Bing, And Why It Is Failing to Matter

,----[ Quote ]
| Now, ill equipped to catch up, Microsoft is using its well equipped lobbyists
| to attack Google using government interference in lieu of competing against
| it in the marketplace. Ten years ago, Microsoft was defending its own
| monopoly to the government, although Microsoftâs monopoly was not
| legitimately won in the market as Googleâs, but was instead massed together
| through shady business practices and competition suppression.
|
| The question this time around will be: has the âcenter rightâ American
| government become saturated enough with corporate socialism for the rich that
| the very success of liberal spending on basic research will be attacked and
| handed over to loser parties such as Microsoft in new bailouts that reward
| failure and punish legitimate success, after twenty years of doing the
| opposite, ignoring Microsoftâs monopolistic lock on markets while rewarding
| conservative corporate profiteering with more government grants and overseas
| political support?
|
| Because that would be devastating to US recovery.

Bing failed. Do we need to have an official funeral now?

Bing Continues With Fake Referrers: What Part Of Stop Donât They Understand?

,----[ Quote ]
| For over two years now, Microsoftâs search engine has been generating fake
| information that can make site owners think theyâre getting strange search
| traffic (including porn traffic), when they are not. Itâs time for this to
| come to an end.
|
| The culprit? Microsoftâs âcrawler,â the software that visits web pages across
| the web that go into the search engine. The crawler is known as MSNBot, from
| the days when the recently renamed Bing search engine was known as MSN
| Search. When that crawler gathers a web page, it sometimes leaves
| behind âreferrerâ information in a web siteâs logs â fake referrer
| information, that is.

Microsoft's Bing decides on bribery

,----[ Quote ]
| It does seem like splendidly commercial bribery.

More Microsoft Live Search Bribery

,----[ Quote ]
| Just using Microsoft online services isn't enough to get your ticket punched,
| though. You must run Internet Explorer (6.0 or higher) when you use those
| services. Even visiting getsearchperks.com with Firefox or Opera is a futile
| exercise; you will have to start IE to see what goodies the site has to
| offer. Oh, and if you sign up you'll have to install the Perk Counter toolbar
| to let Microsoft keep track of your tickets.
