Sabayon Linux 5.0 arrives

,----[ Quote ]
| Sabayon Linux founder Fabio Erculiani has announced the

| of his popular Linux distribution. Sabayon, named after an
| egg-yolk based dessert, is derived from Gentoo Linux and is
| intended to provide a "complete out-of-the-box experience"
| while being both stable and versatile. The major update
| includes a number of bug fixes, performance improvements

Gentoo Linux releases special edition LiveDVD

,----[ Quote ]
| The Gentoo developers have announced the availability of
| Gentoo Linux 10.0 as a special edition LiveDVD to celebrate
| their tenth anniversary. The project usually works with
| rolling updates: every few weeks, the developers release
| updated installation CDs that serve as a basis for new
| Gentoo installations. Users then keep their systems current
| by installing regular online updates.

For me, Gentoo is about *convenient* choice

,----[ Quote ]
| Another part where choosing is made convenient in Gentoo are
| testing and unstable programs.
|
| I remember my pain with a Kubuntu, where I wanted to use the
| most recent version of Amarok. I either had to add a dedicated
| Amarok-only testing repository (which I'd need for every single
| testing program), or I had to switch my whole system into
| testing. I did the latter and my graphical package manager
| ceased to work. Just imagine how quickly I ran back to Gentoo.

Sabayon Linux 4.2 KDE Review

,----[ Quote ]
| Sabayon is a Gentoo Linux-based, multi-purpose distribution. Previous
| releases of Sabayon came in one huge DVD iso image with the option to install
| your favorite desktop. However, the latest release is available in iso images
| distinguished by desktop environments. For example, we have Sabayon 4.x KDE,
| Sabayon 4.x Gnome, etc. This review is based on Sabayon 4.2 KDE. A future
| review will focus on Sabayon 4.2 Gnome.
|
| [...]
|
| The installer is one of the best. If you choose to use Sabayon in Live CD/DVD
| mode, and then opt to install it on your PCâs hard drive, you still get the
| same full-featured installer.

| multimedia applications and nothing more than what you need for your daily
| tasks, but what about your free time? Weâve got it. XBMC (formerly known as
| Xbox Media Center) 9.04 is what youâve ever wanted to build up a fantastic
| HTPC or Internet Multimedia Box, so whatâs better than having it ready to
| use? Show off the new Sabayon Linux to your friends, they have no more
| excuses to not try it!
