Windows 7 Sucking in Multiples of Seven
,----[ Quote ]
| Early adopters always take a hit. But the
| same problems with Windows continue even
| though 7 was supposed to be the resolution
| for the mess that Vista was. When you take
| into account all the forced compliance
| issues with Vista and now 7 it does make you
| wonder if Microsoft has a hand in selling
| hardware like wireless cards, printers and
| scanners. In the past Microsoft has done
| many shady things like being sued for
| monopolies, paying for good press, bench
| mark fraud, and flooding the internet with
| so called âreviewsâ written by employees.

Better Windows might be a relic

| People once relied on PCs for e-mail, for
| instance, but many now get their messages on
| smart phones and Web browsers through
| services such as Hotmail or Gmail.
| Developers are putting their juice into
| making iPhone apps rather than PC software,
| or into so-called cloud applications, which
| run online instead of in Windows.
|
| Has Microsoft built a faster train while the
| rest of the industry is making planes and
| automobiles?

Windows 7 released on Question Time to mass protests
,----[ Quote ]
| It said it had been âdemonisedâ and
| repeatedly denied doing things which have
| been attributed to Vista. It attributed
| photos of it wearing a T-shirt saying âThe
| Wowâ starts NOW!â to youthful foolishness.
| Windows 7 also decried the leak of
| Microsoftâs latest dismal quarterly results
| on Wikileaks, saying the contents were
| complete fiction and a breach of private
| matters between the Microsoft National Party
| and the financial authorities.

The 7 deadly sins of Windows 7
,----[ Quote ]
| Likewise, power users soon learn that their
| ability to hack Windows 7 to make it work
| the way they want is often limited by the
| closed, black-box nature of its proprietary
| code base. These users see how easy it is to
| custom-tailor Linux and even Mac OS X, and
| they feel that twinge of jealously. They
| want what these other platforms provide, and
| soon they find themselves coveting their
| neighbor's OS.

Microsoft's roadkill on the journey to Windows 7
,----[ Quote ]
| Windows 7 starts out on the wrong foot
|
| Although it's too early to fully measure the
| impact Windows 7 will have on the third-
| party market, it's already off to a bad
| start with its heavy-handed dismissal of
| third-party video codecs. Third-party codecs
| cooperate with video compression standards
| that Microsoft's own video applications,
| such as Media Player, were heretofore loathe
| to support.
|
| But Windows 7 adds some new codecs to
| Microsoft's quiver, and where these collide
| with third-party products, you won't be
| surprised who comes out on top.
|
| Windows 7 preempts third-party codecs in
| Microsoft's own applications, such as Media
| Player, by using its own embedded codecs
| whenever possible. This is a major change
| from XP and Vista operation, where users
| could override Microsoft codecs globally.
| Although users can circumvent Windows 7
| codec usurpation with some effort, the
| process is not intuitive and decidedly less
| convenient than the old behavior.

Feature-By-Feature: Ubuntu 9.10 Vs. Windows 7
,----[ Quote ]
| Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop
| Karmic Koala's desktop should be familiar
| to Windows users. Right-click menu
| shortcuts and personalizing the desktop
| features are similar to Windows 7. The
| desktop still isn't as "glitzy" as Windows
| 7, but users can get the eye candy of
| Windows 7 with a fast graphics card and can
| choose the "Extra" settings in Ubuntu
| 9.10's "Appearance Preferences."

Ubuntu Karmic Koala- A perfect alternative to Windows 7
,----[ Quote ]
| Before you decide to pay for a Windows 7 license, I
| would humbly urge you to first download a copy of
| Karmic Koala, give it a try for a week or two and
| then make an unbiased assessment of it yourself.
| You will see that you would not have to spend money
| whatsoever on a pile of software that crumbles at
| the least attack made on it. Do you intend using
| Windows 7? Please tell us why or why you would not
| use Ubuntu.
