We will defend you all from Cuffaro

,----[ Quote ]
| We are talking about a denunciation
| (Cuffaroâs) that has no respect whatsoever
| for the Procura, that will have to verify
| 4,609 comments on the above-mentioned video,
| most of which have no juridical relevance,
| and that seems to be a pure exhibition of
| arrogance.

European Union adopting regulations that will penalize Internet users

,----[ Quote ]
| Reporters Without Borders is very concerned
| about the consequences that the European
| Unionâs adoption of the so-called Telecoms
| Package will have for bloggers and other
| Internet users.
|
| âThis Telecoms Package undermines the right
| to equal Internet access,â said Reporters
| Without Borders, which last month joined
| more than 80 organisations from 15 EU member
| countries in signing an open letter voicing
| concern. âThe European Union should have
| sent a strong signal by refusing to create a
| two-speed Internet.â

My life as 'suspect A'

,----[ Quote ]
| The 'domestic extremist' label brings with
| it police harassment â from violent arrest
| to being photographed breastfeeding
|
| I am suspect A on the spotter card printed
| by the Guardian, and I am, in the eyes of
| the police force, a "domestic extremist".
| This comes as no surprise to me nor did it
| come as any surprise to my friends, family
| or colleagues. I made a difficult decision
| to go public with the Kingsnorth story â
| when video footage showing me being
| violently arrested made the front pages â
| and so it didn't make much difference to my
| life to be splashed across the national
| media labelled as a "domestic extremist."

| referred to as the comms directorate Â"continuously monitor[ed]" peaceful
| protest groups opposed to the expansion of Heathrow airport and then briefed
| detectives about their findings.

Congress Ponders Cybersecurity Power Grab

,----[ Quote ]
| There was a lot of attention paid last week to a new "cybersecurity" bill
| that would drastically expand the government's power over the Internet. The
| two provisions that have probably attracted the most attention are the parts
| that would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" and
| then seize control of "any compromised Federal government or United States
| critical infrastructure information system or network." Perhaps even more
| troubling, the EFF notes a section that states that the government "shall
| have access to all relevant data concerning (critical infrastructure)
| networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy
| restricting such access."

Dual_EC_DRBG Added to Windows Vista

,----[ Quote ]
| Microsoft has added the random-number generator Dual_EC-DRBG to Windows
| Vista, as part of SP1. Yes, this is the same RNG that could have an NSA
| backdoor.
|
| It's not enabled by default, and my advice is to never enable it. Ever.
