Even Microsoftâs Ad Agency Canât Get People To Advertise Through Microsoft

,----[ Quote ]
| The latest social media survey is making the
| blogosphere rounds this week. This one comes
| from RazorFish, Microsoftâs former digital
| ad agency, which the company sold to
| Publicis Groupe earlier this year. The
| report is about the way various brands are
| using the Web and social media to spread
| their gospel, with various extrapolations
| about the fundamental nature of the Internet
| based on a small sample size.
|
| Among the most interesting tidbits, though,
| are the data from Razorfishâs own clients.
| (The client list is impressive, with dozens
| of major brands ranging from Visa to
| Victoriaâs Secret.) In 2008 Razorfishâs
| clients put 72 percent of their search
| advertising budgets toward Google ads. Yahoo
| garnered 22 percent. Razorfish could only
| convince its clients to funnel 4 percent of
| their budgets to ads on Microsoftâs live.com
| search engine.

Microsoft rumours confirmed

,----[ Quote ]
| Industry rumours were set to rest when Microsoft confirmed a number of
| changes to its staffing.
|
| According to Microsoft the restructure will affect a small, but unspecified,
| number of jobs and is part of the efficiency drive announced by Chief
| Executive, Steve Ballmer earlier this year. It follows job cuts that occurred
| earlier this month.

Are there more layoffs in Microsoft's future?

,----[ Quote ]
| That inaudible clause, according to my notes, was âI donât see any potential
| for us to lower our expenses for the rest of this year.â
|
| So does all that mumbo-jumbo translate to no more layoffs? Probably â at
| least for the rest of this calendar year. But not definitivelyâ.
