Wikis to open drug development sharing

,----[ Quote ]
| Taking the open concept a step further is the
| Bioinformatics Organization, an open source
| practitioner that uses wiki software to let
| researchers post their models, questions,
| experiments and discoveries.
|
| [...]
|
| The Bioinformatics Internet site currently
| notes the release of BioPuppy 2.0, a minimal
| Linux operating system and workbench for
| bioinformatics and computational biology.
| Version 2.0 is based on the current Linux
| kernel version on Puppy Linux 4.2.1.

Linux for those old PCs? This âPuppyâ shows you how

,----[ Quote ]
| Newcomers to Linux get a real treat from
| Puppy Linux: It initially runs from memory
| and from the CD, leaving your hard drive
| alone in case you donât want to stick with
| the Puppy. But I think youâll like the way
| it works, and installing it onto the hard
| drive after your tryout is a simple as
| clicking an âInstallâ icon and following the
| prompts.
|
| The word processor in Puppy Linux is
| Abiword, compatible with Microsoft Word. You
| also get a calendar, instant-message
| program, music software and a simple photo
| editor, among many other programs.

Puppy Linux Built From Ubuntu Still Has 99 MB

,----[ Quote ]
| As compared with earlier candidates, version 4.3
| of Puppy Linux puts you in total control of
| choosing the desired packages from various Linux
| distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, Arch or
| Slackware. The Puppy Unleashed build system was
| replaced by a new one, called Woof, which is
| capable to process packages from almost any
| existing Linux distribution.

Thoughts: Puppy Linux 4.3 on Older Laptop

,----[ Quote ]
| So we had our monthly pqlug.org meeting last night.
| So I brought the Dell 8100 to the meeting and showed
| everyone my running version of Puppy. We all decided
| that we were going to place it on the Dell 5000 so I
| just ejected the CD and away we went with the install.
| In about 5 minutes it was on her laptop and configured
| to work on the internet with a wireless USB key. All
| was well and she was very happy to have a light
| weighted Linux running on her older machine.
|
| In conclusion Puppy Linux 4.3 works great! I am
| leaving the CD in my Dell 8100 and will be using it to
| browse the web and check my gmail account while I
| watch TV... :)
