The severity of the flaws in Windows does make this a requirement (also requiring a reboot).
Now, let's look at Linux.
Should an update be disruptive? No. It can happen in the background, prompting no reboot.
Should an update be urgent? Not really. The very rare flaw in Linux usually involve multi-user
machines, not remotely-exploitable issues. There are exceptions like Debian's OpenSSH oopsie.
