,----[ Quote ]
| The next version of Linux is not only the
| first to offer the Nouveau KMS graphics driver
| for NVIDIA graphics hardware, it also comes
| with a multitude of improvements for the two
| AMD/ATI and Intel graphics drivers which
| support Kernel-based Mode Setting (KMS).

,----[ Quote ]
| NVIDIA has been at work on the 195.xx driver
| series for some months already and has
| delivered beta releases to the public that

| along with faster X Render performance. This
| evening they have published a new beta driver
| for the public, this time it's 195.36.03.

Using NVIDIA's VDPAU On Mobile Platforms

,----[ Quote ]
| We know that NVIDIA's Video Decode and
| Presentation API for Unix (VDPAU) works very
| well for exposing PureVideo capabilities on
| Linux. We have benchmarked VDPAU and found it to
| perform very well in that under Linux it's
| possible to play HD videos with a $20 CPU and
| $30 GPU thanks to this video acceleration
| method. VDPAU is the best video acceleration /
| decoding API on Linux and is widely adopted by
| various multimedia applications, which is all in
| contrast to AMD's XvBA and their troubled
| implementation. But how does VDPAU work on
| mobile devices? With the ASUS Eee PC 1201N that
| is built on NVIDIA's ION platform we ran a new
| set of VDPAU video playback tests.

NVIDIA Pushes Out 195.22 Beta Linux Driver

,----[ Quote ]
| Further enriching VDPAU continues to be a
| core focus of NVIDIA's developers and with
| the 195.22 release there are enhancements
| to the VDPAU blit-based presentation
| queue, updated VDPAU to improve thread
| concurrency (this could help the
| GStreamer-Cairo developers, modified the
| install location of the VDPAU libraries
| (see the recent libvdpau release), a
| define for VDPAU_INTERFACE_VERSION, and a
| fix for a periodic temporary hang in the
| VDPAU blit-based presentation queue. The
| main new feature for VDPAU though with the
| 195.xx series is that the Video Decode and
| presentation API for Unix now allows
| multiple streams to be decoded at once.
