Git 1.7 brings some compatibility changes

,----[ Quote ]
| Version 1.7 of the free Git distributed
| version control system (DVCS) is now
| available to download. The new release
| offers numerous changes that have been
| discussed for some time, changes that have
| made the new version incompatible with its
| predecessor, Git 1.6.6, but the repository
| format is unchanged. The changes appear to
| have been important enough for the
| developers to choose to introduce them
| rather than maintain the system's backward
| compatibility with previous releases.
