TACC's Ranger Supercomputer Turns Two

| composed of 15,744 quad-core AMD Opteron
| processors and runs the Linux operating
| system. "Ranger has changed people's
| perceptions of Linux clusters as
| supercomputers," said Tommy Minyard, a co-

| director of Advanced Computing Systems at
| TACC. "They are now widely accepted as a
| large-scale computing technology."
