Exaile â The First Linux Media Player I Donât Hate

,----[ Quote ]
| Anyone who knows me will have heard me rant
| about the poor state of music software,
| particularly for Linux. There seem to be
| two types of music players out there: the
| tiny ones that donât get in your way but
| often lack important playlist features or
| format support, and the monstrous software
| beasts that drag your system to a halt and
| insist on âimportingâ the files youâve
| already organized. I had been stewing over
| this for years, and nearing the point of
| writing my own, when I found Exaile â a GTK
| music program originally modeled after
| KDEâs Amarok. This may be the first music
| player since Winamp 2.95 that I donât
| despise, and hereâs why.

Rhythmbox Knows the Words and the Tune

,----[ Quote ]
| As a music-playing application for the
| Gnome Desktop, Rhythmbox really has its
| bases covered. Besides playing back music,
| it can fetch lyrics and art, load up many
| kinds of media players including iPods,
| access online music stores and support a
| wide variety of plug-ins. The only area in
| which Rythmbox is deficient is in ripping,
| but there are many other programs that take
| care of that.

My Wallpaper changer search

,----[ Quote ]
| 6. Wally - From the website: "Wally is a
| Qt4 wallpaper changer, using multiple
| sources" - Sounds good, so I downloaded the
| .deb file. (be careful to select your disto
| here) After a few painless seconds to
| install, I found Wally setting in the Apps
| menu. So I clicked on it, and the settings
| menu came up. And as you can see from the
| image below, it's very easy figure out,
| and yes it lets you download from Flicker
| and about a dozen other on-line sources.
