The K3B developer is a paid developer (now in Mandriva), just like those from Nero. That's just 
fair competition and the cost meets where supply and demand agree (around zero when copying of 
bytes is free).

The Internet changed trade in data and in software. It makes improvement more rapid -- 
"improvement" being a notion that makes Microsoft nauseous because stagnation can be more 
profitable to monopolies (no need to develop, just take orders).
