Games/Applications

To my best recollection I have been playing computer games extensively since the age of 5. I stopped roughly at the age of 16, but played occasionally ever since. This is my personal list of dominant PC/video games**:

  • Alley Cat (IBM)
  • Doom 1+2 (ID Software)
  • Day of the Tentacle (Lucas Arts)
  • Jones in the Fast Lane (Sierra, In memory of)
  • Warcraft 1+2 (Blizzard)
  • Lost in Time (Cocktail Vision)
  • Mario series (Nintendo)
  • Willy Beamish (Dynamix)
  • Sam and Max (Lucas Arts)
  • Alone in the Dark 1+2 (Infograms)
  • Double Dragon 2
  • The Incredible Machine -- particularly the first
  • Street Fighter 2 (Capcom)
  • Police Quest 3 (Sierra)
  • Leisure Suit Larry 6 (Sierra, many thanks to Al Lowe)
  • Sonic series (Sega)
  • Space Quest 3 (Sierra)
  • Inca (Cocktail Vision)

To Sierra enthusiasts I highly recommend Quest Studios. Most soundtracks are distributed there for free.

In July-September 2004 I spent plenty of time playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. You could possibly find me early in the morning under the name 'RS'. I included several random screenshots. This is yet the best game I have come across.

Many tributes must also go to Norton Commander which is the most precious piece of software in my possession. Although the original is irreplaceable, a few other commanders were implemented.

**I chose to list only games that literally occupied months of my childhood. The list would be endless otherwise. Some games I have not seen for over 10 years so the titles may be slightly wrong.

TV

Some television shows have burnt up an enormous amount of my time. I can safely estimate that I have watched well over a thousand screenings of Married with Children and seen every Seinfeld episode about 4 times when I had all seasons of it on my hard drive. My most dominant TV shows would have to be:

  • Married with Children (Sony Pictures)
  • Seinfeld (NBC)
  • Frasier (NBC)
  • Simpsons (Fox)
  • Friends (NBC)
