This section has demonstrated some of the advantages gained by using
an MDL approach for choosing landmark points in a set of shapes. The
notion of an objective function function was explained, as well as
an information-theoretic one. Once an objective function is in place,
there are various issues that are concerned with the optimisation
regime. The way by which good solution are sought is rather crucial
and the later section on registration experiments ()
elaborates on current work relating to this subject.
