By saving the figures as encapsulated PostScript and then printing them
using lpr -P[PRINTER] *.eps you will have copies of your results for future
access. The practice of skipping the saving stage is not a healthy one,
especially if you later need to re-produce results.
Apart from my unrelated advice, I can't speak about experience with printing
under SuSE, which I use for everything except MATLAB. I typically run
MATLAB under remote machines with Fedora installed. I am fairly
disappointed with MathWorks' efforts on the Linux version. The ugly and
lacking Motif user interfaces show that they neglect the platform which is
by far more advantageous.
