It's not mandatory. They only need to supply the enhanced hardware if they
want to display the Vista Premium logo. I think its a good thing that
flash is being incorporated into hard drives. Give the technology a few
years and you will see the slow unreliable power hungry mechanical hard
drives dying out.
Access times on hard drives have not changed much in twenty years and data
transfer rates have not kept pace with storage capacity.
