This is like saying it's a sign Ford is running out of money because it won't buy Chevies for their employees to use as company cars!

No, it is like Ford saying that they won't pay the mileage allowance to those driving for them if they are not driving a Ford. Such a thing would not be acceptable for Ford, so why should it be acceptable for Microsoft.
