Moreover, by looking at sequences of retinal images, indicators of disease that affects the eye can be spotted early on. Consequently, a great deal of research has recently focused on analysis of retinal images, as also described in Medical News Today:

Investigators discuss the development of a technique to improve the speed and accuracy of the analysis of retinal motion from scanning laser ophthalmoscope image sequences."
